Terms of Use
Last updated: May 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Thrivr mobile application and any related services (the "Service") provided by Thrivr ("Thrivr", "we", "our", "us"), a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The service
Thrivr is a personal development app that helps you clarify your vision, build goals and develop character. The Service is for personal, non-commercial use.
Thrivr is not a substitute for professional therapy, medical advice, financial advice, legal advice or pastoral care. If you are in crisis or have thoughts of harming yourself, contact a qualified professional or, in the UK, call Samaritans on 116 123.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Thrivr. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it if anything changes.
4. Subscriptions and payment
Thrivr is offered as a paid subscription, billed monthly or annually through your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Auto-renewal can be turned off in your device's subscription settings up to 24 hours before each renewal. Cancelling stops future charges; your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
10% of every subscription is donated to Compassion International. The remainder funds the operation and development of Thrivr.
5. Free trials and refunds
Where a free trial is offered, you will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google in line with their store policies. Where required by law (for example, the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations), you may have additional cancellation rights — contact hello@thrivr.app if you believe this applies to you.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of any content you create within Thrivr — your vision, goals, sub-goals, journal entries, kickstart responses, ratings, and the letter to your future self. By using the Service you grant us a limited licence to store and display this content back to you. We never publish your content publicly.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or copy any part of the app.
- Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service.
- Use the Service to harass, defame or harm any person.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or our infrastructure.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
8. Intellectual property
All software, design, branding, content and trademarks within Thrivr (other than your content) belong to Thrivr and are protected by UK and international intellectual property law.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any outcome — financial, relational, spiritual or otherwise — will result from using it. Results depend on you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Thrivr's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will notify you within the app of any material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except where the consumer-protection laws of your country of residence give you a stronger right.
